All Settled In!

It’s a foggy Monday morning at camp, but you’d never know it from the energy and enthusiasm around Timanous as our campers are fully engaged in the joys of camp life!

Thursday and Friday’s perfect weather was just the right backdrop for our orientation activities. The warm sun made our first swims in Panther Pond very inviting. It was a joy watching our returning campers reconnected with old friends and help our new campers learn the ropes and make new friends. We gathered in the Hall on Thursday evening for some camp songs and introductions. It’s always powerful to hear all of our voices singing as one.

Other highlights included cabin cookouts on Saturday night, an inspiring Chapel talk on Sunday morning delivered by longtime camp cook Bob Simmons about the power of Timanous friendships, and our first Council Fire on Sunday evening where campers are commended for their kind deeds and initiative. The first big thunderstorm of the season rolled through in the early morning hours of Monday while we were all tucked into bed. Some campers slept right through it while others commented on how impressive it was. Based on my conversations, no one was nervous about it, and everyone seemed to enjoy hearing the rain on the roof of the cabin.

Our first camping trips of the season departed the morning, with our Crows going to raft on the Kennebec River until Thursday and our Cardinals venturing off to Umbagog Lake on the Maine-New Hampshire border until Wednesday.

We look forward to providing more updates throughout the week.

Warmest regards,

Garth
